Pljevlja: Fewer and fewer students in the classrooms

This year, 181 children were enrolled in the first grade of elementary school in Pljevlja, ten of them in rural schools.

The number of enrolled children who will sit in school for the first time from September in three urban and 11 rural primary schools is 30 less than the previous year.

The most champions were enrolled in the Elementary School "Salko Aljković" - 72 students, who will be distributed in four classes.

In the previous school year, 20 fewer students were enrolled in this school than this year.

In 3.498, 1997 students were enrolled in the city's elementary schools. According to the research of Vidoj Despotović, a former teacher from Pljevlja, at that time the primary school "Salko Aljković" had 1.380 students, while there were 1.098 students enrolled in rural schools.

In the "Ristan Pavlović" Elementary School, 60 first-year students were enrolled, twenty less than the previous year.

In the "Boško Buha" Elementary School, 39 students were enrolled in the first grades, six of them in the advanced class in the village of Komini, and one first in the advanced class in the village of Grevo.

Of the rural elementary schools, the most first-year students were enrolled in the "Bratstvo" Elementary School in Bukovica, the most remote Pljevlja Local Community, and the Elementary School in the village of Odžak, not far from Pljevlja.

Starting from the next school year, three first-year students will attend classes in those schools. In the elementary school in Odžak, of the three first-year students enrolled, two are in the home school, and one is in the advanced department in the village of Borovica.

This year, there will be primary schools in the mining settlements of Šula, as well as primary schools in Srdanovo Grob, Matarug, Bobovo and Boljanići, without champions this year.

Elementary school "Jakub Kubur" in Boljanići is without a champion for the first time this year.

The situation is somewhat better in the elementary school "Radoje Kontić" in the mining settlement of Gradac, where two champions enrolled this year.

Less than 200 students attended classes in all rural schools.

School principals claim that the situation will be even more difficult in the coming period.

Compared to 1997, the number of students in the city's primary schools has halved. That year, 3.498 students were enrolled in three city schools.

Despotović states that the number of students in city schools in the period from 1974 to 1997 did not decrease and even increased.
