The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism has announced a competition for the conceptual urban-architectural design of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. Applications for the course last until September 23, and conceptual solutions are submitted by November XNUMX.

"It is necessary to adapt and reconstruct the existing building of the Academy, and the construction of a new building is also planned. Tender solutions should also respond to the treatment of the existing facility and consider the possibility of forming a unique functional unit of the existing and newly planned facility," the tender states.

The mentioned location is located on the southern slope of Gorica. It is bounded by the Small Sports Stadium on the northwest side, with two-story residential buildings on Beogradska street to the west. From the eastern side is the Gorica C neighborhood, and access from Rista Stijovića Street, which connects to Ivan Crnojevića Boulevard, connects the location with the city center.

"The part of the site north of the fence, towards the park of the 'Gorica' villa, is not planned for interventions. The subject of the competition includes landscaping, which should contribute to the overall ambient appearance of the area, with the aim of obtaining a unique landscaped area and forming a complex,'' the document says.

The new building has floors: basement, ground floor and one floor, while the existing one, planned for reconstruction, does not have a basement. The facilities should consist of four units.

"When designing the first unit of the new building, it is necessary to foresee higher ceiling heights for the gallery spaces (about 4 meters), and to adapt the basement spaces for the needs of the depot where sculptures, paintings and books are stored. Introduce natural lighting into the basement spaces of the building. The hall of the building should be designed as a representative and multifunctional part of the building", it is emphasized in the competition.

The new building should be built from modern, durable and high-quality materials. Access is planned to be from Beogradska and Rista Stijovića streets, and it is necessary to adapt it for the access and movement of persons with reduced mobility and persons with disabilities through access ramps and other facilities.

Papers are submitted anonymously, under a code submitted by the applicant. The results of the competition and the submitted works will be published on the websites www.mrt.gov.me and www.arhitektura.mrt.gov.me. The final report will be delivered to all participants electronically.
