Evacuated a health-threatening passenger from the cruise ship

The Directorate of Maritime Security and Port Management of Montenegro (UPSUL) and the medical team of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance from Bar successfully carried out a MEDEVAC evacuation operation early this morning and cared for a sick passenger from the cruise ship "MSC Armonia" which was sailing near the Montenegrin coast.

Namely, last night around 23.40:XNUMX p.m. the cruise ship of the Italian-Swiss company "MSC Cruises", which had set sail from Kotor just a few hours earlier, sent a MEDEVAC call to the Maritime Operations Center within UPSUL for the urgent evacuation of passengers who needed medical help and hospital treatment.

It was about an 80-year-old Australian citizen who, according to information from the cruise ship captain, had symptoms of a stroke.

The health condition of the passengers required the involvement of the staff of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance from Bar, and "MSC Armonia" headed as quickly as possible to the Port of Bar, from which it was at that moment about 22 nautical miles away.

"Operators from the Maritime Operations Center, Toni Tomašević and Erkam Vuković, coordinated the evacuation with the rescue boat SAR-1 and its crew consisting of Jasmin Koković, Nikiola Bošković and Željko Pačak, as well as the staff of the Emergency Medical Aid Agency, the Border Police Sector Bar and ship by the agent of the MSC Cruises company, Allegra from Bar. Throughout the action, the tug "Rumija" was ready to assist in case of need. However, the weather conditions at sea were very favorable as the sea state was 1, and the wind was 7 knots , so the action went relatively easily," the head of the Search and Rescue Sector at UPSUL, Žarko Lukšić, told "Vijesta" this morning.

According to him, "MSC Armonia" and the SAR-1 vessel met at sea about four miles from Bar and at 1.28:XNUMX am this morning, a passenger who fell ill was transferred from the cruiser to a rescue boat.

SAR-1 then headed towards the port of Bar at the highest speed, where it arrived and tied up at 1.50:XNUMX a.m., and the health-impaired passenger was transferred and treated at the General Hospital in Bar. After the evacuation, "MSC Armonia" continued its journey towards the next destination of that cruise ship - the port of Mykonos in Greece.
