After the decrease in the number of tourists in June due to bad weather conditions, guests have been arriving in Ulcinj in the last few days in larger numbers, and tourism officials are satisfied with how the pre-season has started.
This was said by the director of the Ulcinj Tourist Organization Ćazim Hodžić.
"It is an incentive for us that we, as a tourist organization, worked well during the previous months to promote the tourist offer of our city. Most of the hotels opened their doors already in mid-April, and we are happy that more and more of them work with organized tour operators and agencies, which certainly leads to an extension of the season and a good occupancy of accommodation capacities when it comes to hotels. It's a bit slower with private accommodation, where they work more with individual guests," said Hodžić.
During May, he stated, there was an exceptional attendance and a very good occupancy of accommodation capacities.
"After that, due to weather problems, we had a slight drop in the number of tourists. However, already at the end of June and beginning of July, we expect an even greater influx of guests from the region and other European countries than now, so we can say that the main tourist season is starting. The tourist organization is certainly ready for the main season, we are opening information points that will work for several hours a day in the most frequented parts of the city. In addition, we have already informed the public that the Tourist Organization of Ulcinj made an online application for registering guests and thus offered a relief to all landlords who want to register guests," said Hodžić.
A concert by a famous tenor from Kosovo Rame Lahaj, which will be held today at the Pier under the walls of the Old Town, will mark the beginning of the battle manifestations.
In addition to numerous concerts, cultural and sports events during the first half of the year and the celebration of May Day holidays, which formally marked the beginning of the season, the traditional event Old Timer Fest, held last weekend, had a kind of introduction to the warm summer. For the fifteenth time, the people of Ulcinj had the opportunity to attend the parade of old-timers from Montenegro and almost the entire region.
Hodžić, among other things, announces that during July the traditional Book Fair of an international character will be held, followed by "Painting" on the river Bojana, where the special guest will be the famous Sarajevo queen of sevdah Amira Medunjanin, for August Okra Days...
"We are planning other activities of an international character that we will organize in cooperation with other institutions, which we also believe can attract a large number of guests who will visit our city during the summer tourist season," said Hodžić.
He reminded that this is also the result of TO's successful performance at international fairs in several European countries and regions.
"During this month, we hosted journalists and tour operators from Azerbaijan, Germany, and Belgium, who will convey their impressions of our city. TO would like to thank all our businessmen with whom we always have good cooperation and who recognized the opportunity for a good presentation and promotional campaign of Ulcinj this time as well", said Hodžić.
Hodžić said that the tourism sector is still under attack from the covid pandemic and that inflation, which grew a lot in Montenegro last year, has the greatest effect on price increases, but that prices in Ulcinj are still lower than in other coastal towns and the region.
"Despite that, we are much cheaper than other countries in the region. Average prices in a double room in private accommodation, in the main season, will be from 20 to 50 euros per person, depending on the category and of course the location, while the prices of accommodation in hotels will of course be a little more expensive", said Hodžić.
