The Montenegrin research community is more mature and consolidated than before, which is proven by the increasing participation of Montenegro in the Horizon Europe program, said Director General of the Ministry of Science and Technological Development Marijeta Barjaktarović Lanzardi.
Barjaktarović Lanzardi, together with the deputy head of the Unit for Joining the Horizon Europe program Ann Hegland Morrissey, co-chaired the meeting of the Joint Committee for Research and Innovation of the EU and Montenegro, which was held on Friday in Brussels.
As announced by the Ministry, it was pointed out at the meeting that the joining of Montenegro to the Horizon Europe program is an important milestone in cooperation with the European Union (EU) in the field of research and a key factor for closer European integration of the country.
Barjaktarović Lanzardi pointed out that Montenegro's participation in the Horizon Europe program is very important for the research and innovation ecosystem in the country.
"The increasing participation of Montenegro in the HPP program is proof that the Montenegrin research community is more mature and consolidated than before," stated Barjaktarović Lanzardi.
She emphasized that more efforts will be made to use all the possibilities of the Horizon Europe program.
The Co-Chair of the EC welcomed the representatives of the EU and Montenegro and highlighted the very good results of Montenegro in the Horizon Europe program so far.
She welcomed the ongoing national efforts and reforms in research and innovation and the commitment of Montenegro to support the results of its institutions and researchers in the program.
The Ministry said that the key topics discussed were the adoption and signing of the Rules of Procedure of the Joint Committee and a detailed exchange of opinions on issues related to Montenegro joining the Horizon Europe program.
"Such as the strengthening and further integration into the new European Research Area (ERA), the implementation of the principle of reciprocity, as well as how to increase the participation of Montenegrin institutions in the Horizon Europe program", the announcement states.
The next meeting of the Joint Committee will be held in Montenegro next year.
