Residents of Pristan, Pinješ and Old Town in Ulcinj have announced a protest for Saturday, July 15, due to non-compliance with the law on noise protection. The protest will be held on the promenade at Pristan, and the gathering has been duly reported to the police.
In a letter forwarded to the Municipal Police, the President of the Municipality and the Tourist Organization, dissatisfied citizens point out that they are witnesses to a problem that has burdened the city for years, especially during the tourist season.
"If we understand some of the problems because they are long-standing and cannot be solved quickly and easily, such as problems with infrastructure, parking lots, cleanliness or arrogant motorists, then there is absolutely no justification for harassing citizens and tourists with unbearable noise. ", writes in the letter from the locals.
They remind the authorities that they have been "promising and simulating a solution to the problem" for years, but have essentially done nothing about it.
"The citizens of Pristan, Pinješ and the Old Town are still active or passive actors of open-air discos and concerts every evening, not of their own volition, which is inappropriate for a city that aspires to raise the quality of its tourist offer. Excessive noise certainly does not contribute to what can be concluded and according to permanent complaints from tourists and citizens", say the locals.
They point out that the competent services promptly and correctly declared Ada Bojana a quiet zone.
"We know the real motives why you did it. But that's why you turned the heart of the city, our Baščaršija, our Stradun, into a fairground where individual profiteers ignore institutions and regulations and citizens, and you silently tolerate it. It's incomprehensible that you don't want to or can't, to force the owners of certain establishments to comply with the Law on Noise Protection in the Environment, Article 6 a, Article 28 and Article 29. What did they blackmail you with?", ask the locals.
They say that the competent services have not yet convinced them that they can be trusted.
"Therefore, we will be persistent in our request to solve the problem, and we are ready, unwillingly, for radicalization in the sense of a short blockade of Pristan and the filing of criminal charges against those responsible. Our message is: "Gentlemen, do your job", reads the end of the letter.
In the report to the police, the organizers announced that the parade would last about an hour and that they expected about 100 participants.
