At today's thematic session of the Government on tourism, Prime Minister Dritan Abazovi suggested changing the date of the winter vacation, while Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanović suggested moving the scheduled start of the upcoming school year by a week.
Minister of Education Miomir Vojinović said that the department will seriously consider the proposal.
Abazović said that the goal is to help tourism and enable better organization of classes.
"The holiday should not be from the 15st of December, but from the 20th of January to a certain February, even from the XNUMXth of January. In this way, we help tourism and enable a better organization of schools, because there were a lot of problems with the heating... We create the effect that our citizens also have the possibility that, when it's the tourist season, they can go with their children and enjoy the mountains. I understand European standards, but I don't think it's a strict obligation, but that we decide as we see fit. It's more convenient for us to children go to school at the beginning of June, rather than in January," said Abazović at the session at Lake Biograd.
He said that he guaranteed that the results would be visible.
Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović supported the position of the Prime Minister and proposed to postpone the start of the upcoming school year.
"It is clear that we no longer have such a hot June, we no longer have snow in December as in February or even March. I believe that we are the ones who should decide on the duration of the school year, on the summer and winter holidays," he said.
He asked the Minister of Education, Miomir Vojinović, to consider the proposal that the upcoming school year begin on September 11, and not a week earlier, as predicted.
"The second direction is long-term, to think about finally making a link between the weather conditions and the needs of the economy, and the rhythm that would suit the students and what is the optimization of the work of the education profession," said the Minister of Finance.
Vojinović said that the department will seriously consider the proposal.
"Last year too, we extended the beginning of the school year, as well as the beginning of the second semester this year, and the state felt the benefits. We will consider what you said most seriously. Children will not be harmed, even the Prime Minister's proposal is completely acceptable. The Ministry of Education will, within the framework of the law, opportunities, to do everything that is in the interest of our country," he concluded.
