The Government of Montenegro is working intensively on strengthening regional and international cooperation, which plays a key role in the fight against cyber attacks, said Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj.

During his official visit to the official Skopje, he met with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Political System and Inter-Community Relations in North Macedonia, Artan Grubi.

As announced by the Ministry of Public Administration, Dukaj pointed out that the excellent political and bilateral relations between Montenegro and North Macedonia are an example for the entire region.

He said that these relations can be deepened even more in the field of public administration reform, digital transformation and information security.

"I consider it extremely important to recognize proactive activities undertaken by states in our region, and meetings like this are an excellent opportunity to share best practices and strengthen regional and international cooperation," said Dukaj.

He said that, in response to the aforementioned challenges, changes in the normative framework have begun in Montenegro.

"We created a new law on cyber security that is harmonized with the EU NIS 2 directive and we are actively working on the implementation of the National Cyber ​​Security Strategy," said Dukaj.

He emphasized that the adoption of that law creates the conditions for the formation of the Agency for Cyber ​​Security and the Government's CIRT, as two strong mechanisms that will protect the country from future cyber attacks through the twenty-four-hour work of employees specialized in this field.

"Given the challenges we face and the evolving nature of cyber attacks, regional and international cooperation plays a key role in the fight against them," Dukaj said.

He pointed out that the Government of Montenegro is working intensively on strengthening regional and international cooperation in the field of cyber security.

Grubi said that today the relations between Montenegro and North Macedonia are excellent in all areas, and that with joint projects and cooperation they can progress on the way to the European Union.
