The Acting President of the Supreme Court, Vesna Vučković, was the only one who applied to the public advertisement for the election of the President of that Court.
The public announcement was announced on July 4, and the deadline for submission of applications expired on Thursday.
The president of the Judicial Council, Vesna Simović Zvicer, told the MINA agency that the only application was submitted by Vučković.
At the session, which is scheduled for August 4 and 5, the Judicial Council will determine whether Vučković meets the conditions for the election of the President of the Supreme Court.
The Administrative Court previously annulled the act sent by the Supreme Court to the Judicial Council on January 19, in which it was stated that Vučković's candidacy proposal for the election of the President of the Supreme Court had not been determined.
The Administrative Court reasoned that the Supreme Court failed to properly determine the issue of two-thirds majority when declaring Vučković's candidacy.
The Administrative Court then issued a verdict in which Vučković was nominated for the leading position in the Supreme Court.
However, at the session of the Judicial Council on July 3, Vučković was not elected as the president of the Supreme Court because she received only three votes of support, while six members of the Council were against her running the court for a full term.
The Supreme Court has been in an acting mandate since the end of December 2020 after the resignation of long-term president Vesna Medenica.
Vučković heads the Supreme Court in an acting mandate from September 2021.
