During July, nearly 10.800 guests stayed in Kolašin, and most of them were foreign tourists. As the director of the local Tourist Organization (TO) Zorica Milašinović told "Vijesta", most of the foreign guests are from Israel, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, countries of the region...
"During July, of the total number of those who stayed in Kolašin, about 80 percent were foreign tourists. Hotel facilities are almost full, and private accommodation is also well occupied. In recent weeks, we have been recording guests from Saudi Arabia. We have good announcements for August and September, so we hope to make up for the bad start of the season," says Milašinović.
Events and numerous accompanying contents will, she says, give additional quality to the diverse tourist offer of Kolašin. The MOSI Games were successfully completed, and the International Tango Camp, which lasted until a few days ago, is especially worth visiting. In August, the Bjelasica Trail, the Korifej Alternative Theater Festival, the Summer in Kolašin event will be held, where music programs will be organized every weekend on the main street, as well as the Sinjajvin Bicycle Marathon in September. A significant number of overnight stays was also achieved thanks to sports tourism, that is, the basketball camp, and the preparations of the senior volleyball team of Montenegro.
Tourists are interested in an active vacation, they explain in the TO, so they are interested in visiting Biogradska gora National Park, hiking and cycling tours in Bjelasica, horse riding, rafting on Tara, Mrtvica canyon, panoramic rides at the Kolašin 1600 Ski Center...
Milašinović says that the TO is satisfied with the growth in the number of registered accommodation, but that "there is still room for improvement in the collection of residence tax".
"From the beginning of the year until now, we have 100 new registered providers of accommodation. In that part, the work of the tourist inspector is noticeable. We are satisfied because there is a tendency for legal accommodation issuers to grow. However, I believe that the collection of the residence tax, which is one of the basic revenues of TO, should be improved significantly. Namely, regardless of the fact that the accommodation is registered, most publishers do not regularly register their guests, and therefore do not regularly pay the residence tax," claims Milašinović.
Collection of residence tax and business outside the normal flow, when it comes to issuing accommodation, is a perennial problem in Kolašin. The local administration previously explained how the situation will be changed by filling the position of tourist inspector, which has not existed at the local level for years.
