The sea water at most Montenegrin bathing areas is sanitary and safe for swimming and recreation.
This was shown by the results of the seawater quality analysis for 109 locations, which was carried out by the Institute of Marine Biology for the needs of JP "Morsko dobro" in the period from July 25 to August 1.
"The results showed that in 80,7 percent of the locations the sea water was of excellent quality, in 13,8 percent of the locations it was of good quality, in 4,6 percent of the locations it was satisfactory, while in 0,9 percent of the locations the water was of poor quality", according to the Maritime goods.
The classification of bathing waters within this year's Program for monitoring the sanitary quality of seawater is carried out in accordance with Article 8 of the Rulebook on the manner and deadlines for the implementation of measures to ensure the preservation, protection and improvement of bathing water quality, which classifies bathing waters as: "excellent", "good", "satisfactory" and "bad".
"In the municipality of Herceg Novi, water was sampled at a total of 21 locations, of which 13 were of excellent quality, seven of which were of good quality, and one of which was of satisfactory quality. In Kotor, water was of excellent quality at 12 locations, and of good quality at two locations. in the area of the municipality of Tivat, the water was of excellent quality in six tested locations, good in two, and satisfactory in one location. When it comes to the municipality of Ulcinj, out of a total of 18 locations where the sanitary quality monitoring program is implemented, the sea water was of excellent quality in 15 of them, good in one, and satisfactory in two locations. The analyzes showed that the seawater was of excellent quality in 31, and good in one location in the municipality of Budva. The program is implemented in 15 locations in the municipality of Bar, of which 11 of them had excellent water quality, two were of good quality, and one was of satisfactory quality, while at the bathing water site 'Žukotrlica 02' the water was of poor quality," Morski Dobr points out.
They add that a red flag is displayed at the swimming pools within this bathing water, as a symbol of the prohibition of swimming in them.
"The data on the conducted tests have been submitted to the Republic's water inspector, who will take measures and actions within their jurisdiction in the future. The Institute of Marine Biology continues to take samples of sea water from this location, and we will inform the public about the results obtained later," the JP states. Sea good.
