The sea water in most Montenegrin bathing areas is sanitary and safe for swimming and recreation. This is shown by the results of the seawater quality analysis for 109 locations, which the Institute of Marine Biology conducted in the period from August 08 to 16 of this year.
"The results showed that in 68,9 percent of the locations the sea water was of excellent quality, in 18,3 percent of the locations it was of good quality, in 11 percent of the locations it was satisfactory, while in 1,8 percent of the locations the water was of poor quality," they announced from Public enterprise for the management of marine assets.
The classification of bathing water within this year's program for monitoring the sanitary quality of sea water, as they state, is done in accordance with Article 8 of the Rulebook on the manner and deadlines for the implementation of measures to ensure the preservation, protection and improvement of the quality of bathing water, which classifies bathing water as: "excellent", "good", "satisfactory" and "poor".
"In the municipality of Herceg Novi, water was sampled at a total of 21 locations, of which seven were of excellent quality, eight of which were of good quality, and six of which were of satisfactory quality. In Kotor, the water was of excellent quality in eight locations, good in two, and satisfactory in four. In the area of the municipality of Tivat, the water was of excellent quality at eight tested locations, while at one location it was of good quality. When it comes to the municipality of Ulcinj, out of a total of 18 locations where the Sanitary Quality Monitoring Program is implemented, seawater was of excellent quality in 17 of them, and good in one location. The analyzes showed that the sea water was of excellent quality at 29, and good at three locations in the municipality of Budva. The program is being implemented at 15 locations in the municipality of Bar, of which six had excellent water quality, five had good quality, and two had satisfactory quality, while at the bathing water locations "Žukotrlica 01" and "Žukotrlica 02" the water was of poor quality. . A red flag is displayed at the bathing areas within this bathing water, as a symbol of the prohibition of bathing in them. The data on the tests carried out were submitted to the republican water inspector, who will take further measures and actions under his jurisdiction. The Institute of Marine Biology continues to take samples of sea water from this location, and we will inform the public about the obtained results later," the Maritime Dobr states.
