The trade union organization of the employees of the "Port of Adria" company from Bar has warned that waste water is being discharged into the sea, warning that if this problem is not solved in the near future, there is a high probability that a large part of Bar's beaches will be contaminated and that the employees will in that company, the health of citizens and tourists will be endangered.
They said that the problem in the "Port of Adria" water area is long-standing.
"The problem that has happened several times in our water area is waste water that is released in the port water area and which should be purified, but, judging by the latest event, they are far from it. These days, the employees of the Port of Adriatic are witnessing the discharge waste water into the sea, various unpleasant smells that make work even more difficult in these sultry days. We know that various initiatives were launched, according to the relevant ministry, the sanitary inspection, but that everything remained a dead letter and that the solution to this problem was not It is likely that this problem is beyond the scope of trade union activities, but we would like to draw the attention of the relevant ministry, the sanitary inspection and other competent authorities to this problem, because, as Bar is a port city, it is also a tourist destination, and these Today, we were informed through the media that the beaches of Žukotrlica 1 and 2 are not suitable for swimming and that red flags are displayed on them," said the president of the trade union organization, Zoran Martinović.
It is clear, according to him, that a large number of citizens and tourists do not comply with the ban and therefore, as he stated, they question their own, "and then all of us".
"If this problem is not solved in the near future, there is a high probability that a large part of Bar's beaches will be contaminated and that all of us will be at risk of health. The employees of the Port of Adriatic and the Port of Bar, who are constantly exposed to unpleasant odors, bear an additional risk. and who knows what other dangers can arise from the waste water. We know that there is a pump for the treatment of waste water, but it seems that it is not functional to the extent that it should be and then problems like this occur. We hope that the competent authority will the ministry and the sanitary inspection should make an effort to hold those responsible for such an omission accountable and to ensure that such a problem does not repeat itself in the future, in order to primarily preserve the health of both Baran and tourists, and at the same time to preserve the flora and fauna of the lake's water area," he concluded.
