Montenegro has proven itself as a reliable and credible ally with which the United Kingdom has a special professional relationship, said the newly appointed and outgoing British defense envoys, Anthony Kalunjat and Timothy White Boycott.
The Ministry of Defense announced that the state secretary of that department, Krsto Perović, met with Kalunjat and White Boykot.
Perović thanked White Boycott for their dedicated work, results and commitment, which, he said, significantly contributed to the strengthening of cooperation between Montenegro and the United Kingdom in the field of defense, leaving room and a solid foundation for its further improvement.
He congratulated Kalunjat and wished him success in his duties as the defense envoy for Montenegro on a resident basis.
This, as stated by Perović, represents an additional incentive and confirmation of commitment to continue successful defense cooperation in the same spirit.
The Ministry said that the Director General of the Directorate for Defense Policy, Rajko Pešić, also met with the British defense envoys.
He pointed out that the two defense ministries had a very successful cooperation in the past period, both on the bilateral and multilateral level.
As reported, Pešić referred to the great contribution of the British side to the strengthening of Montenegrin personnel capacities through various types of education and training, the implementation of joint exercises, as well as intensive cooperation in the field of public relations and cyber defense.
"A meeting was also held with the Chief of Staff of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro (ACG), Aleksandar Pantović, who said that, thanks to the support of the British side, a series of activities were successfully implemented that contributed to the improvement of the capabilities of the ACG," the announcement states.
Pantović assessed that by appointing a defense envoy to Montenegro on a resident basis, the UK is showing a strong commitment to bilateral military cooperation.
"The British side expressed its satisfaction with the cooperation in the field of defense, stressing that Montenegro has proven itself as a reliable and credible ally with which the United Kingdom has a special professional relationship," the statement said.
It is reported that the envoys emphasized that the continuation of the full support of the United Kingdom can be expected in the future as well.
