They reacted on the occasion of the announcement of the Center for the Protection and Study of Birds (CZIP) in which, among other things, it is stated that they received a scandalous answer from the UIP, and that the inspector NN let the person walk away with the crocodile.

"Inspectors of the Directorate for Inspection Affairs - Department for Environmental Inspection, in accordance with the Law on Inspection Supervision, and other laws, are not authorized to use means and techniques of coercion, i.e. use of physical force to detain persons," the statement of the UIP points out.
They said that on August 14, during an inspection in the area of the King Nikola Promenade in Bar, in the area below the city stadium, a foreign citizen was found in possession of two wild animals: a snake - a python and a crocodile.
"Aforementioned, she put the animals on the market for the purpose of making a profit by offering them to passers-by for photography for a fee, with the possibility of making and printing photos on the spot. In accordance with the obligations arising from the Law on Inspection Supervision, the acting inspector obtained his identity foreigner in the process of inspection supervision and informed her about the subject of inspection supervision (permits for animals that she owns in accordance with the Nature Protection Act). documentation and the origin of the animals. The arrested person was asked to submit personal documents for the purpose of establishing identity, but according to the statement she did not have them with her. Due to the above, the acting inspector requested the assistance of a member of the Police Department by calling the number 122 of security, at least receiving information that their officers will arrive at the scene as soon as possible and that they should wait," the UIP statement reads.
From that institution, they said that after calling the police, the foreigner-subject of surveillance was informed that he should wait for the arrival of police officers in order to establish his identity.
"The party - the subject of surveillance, about 15 minutes after the call to the number 122 of the Police Directorate - OB Bar, together with another person who then appeared on the scene, voluntarily moved away from the scene and left the place of inspection. Acting inspector, the person who was a party to this inspection procedure did not "let" him leave, but did so voluntarily despite the warning. Until that moment, members of the Police Administration - OB Bar had not yet arrived at the scene, so the acting inspector informed the OB Bar about the above by calling number 122. About the above, as well as the placing of wild species of animals in the market in the manner described above and other information collected in this regard, the acting inspector informed the ODT Bar and the Bar Security Department in writing in order to undertake measures and actions within their jurisdiction," the announcement reads
The UIP said that the person who was found on the promenade in Bar with two wild animals, moved away from the place of inspection voluntarily and despite the warning, and that the inspector's further action in this regard as well as in relation to the facts and with the information obtained during the inspection, the applicant of the initiative, the NGO Center for the Protection and Study of Birds, was given information in the notification about the action on the initiative.

From that institution, they said that in order to solve the problem of illegal keeping of wild species of animals in Montenegro, the UIP - Department for Ecological Inspection, through participation in the working group for the drafting of the new Law on Nature Protection, proposes the adoption in practice of functional and applicable norms regarding the keeping of wild animals. types of animals in captivity, either in facilities where they are kept for public display, breeding for other commercial reasons or kept as pets, and especially in the matter of confiscation procedures of wild animals that are kept in captivity without permits or are the subject of illegal marketing .
"In order to solve this problem, an adequate and applicable systemic solution is needed that can provide an adequate answer to this problem in its entirety, as well as providing the necessary infrastructure for the reception and accommodation of confiscated animals," the UIP statement concludes.
