The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, in his congratulatory message on the occasion of Žabljak Municipality Day, said that it is a meeting place for guests from all over the world and occupies a special place on the map of European mountain tourism.
He added that thanks to its rich history, cultural heritage and natural beauty that surrounds it, Žabljak is recognized as the tourist center of our country, the Information Service of the President of Montenegro announced.
"Milatović sent heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the Day of the Municipality of Žabljak to the President of the Municipality Radoš Žugić, the President of the Municipal Assembly Ivan Popović, the councilors and all the citizens of that city," the congratulation reads.
He said that we celebrate September 17 as a holiday of liberation, "proud of the heritage of our past and the libertarian traditions of the people of Durmitor and all the others who defended the idea of anti-fascism and the ideals of freedom and dignity".
This day, said Milatović, reminds us and reminds us of the enormous sacrifice of our ancestors that Žabljak and the entire Durmitor region made in the anti-fascist struggle.

"With the special beauty of Durmitor, for years the most visited national park in Montenegro, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the municipality of Zabljak truly deserves the status of the capital of mountain tourism. Planned spatial management, sustainable investment in infrastructure, further development of mountain, sports, rural, ecological and recreational tourism, as well as the development of agriculture, is the direction in which Žabljak should develop in the coming period. In the belief that the local self-government with the support of the state government will lead progressive development policies and enable the continuous progress of the Durmitor area on the way to reaching the European standard of living for all our citizens, I once again congratulate you on the Day of the Municipality", reads the congratulation of President Milatović.
