Pediatric services in Mojkovac and Kolašin mostly meet the needs of children, and parents indicate that additional commitment is needed to ensure the availability of professional help such as speech therapists, psychologists, defectologists, as well as to improve conditions in preschool institutions, the Parents Association announced.
It is stated that during the visit of the Family Caravan, which was in that city and in Kolašin on Saturday, the parents in Mojkovac highlighted the dedication of the pediatric nurse at the Health Center, thanks to which the percentage of vaccinated children is at an enviable level, which was also talked about by the Institute's epidemiologist for public health, Milena Popović Samaradžić.
According to them, it would be good if they had speech therapists and psychologists in the municipality, so that they would not have to travel to other cities and pay privately for their services.
It is emphasized that the parents said that in addition to this, they consider it important to expand the capacities of the JPU "Jevrosim Jevra Rabrenović" so that the groups are smaller, but also to provide enough staff working with children, both educators and medical workers.
"One of the teachers in that institution also stated that visits by interactive services that visit villages and remote places where a small number of children live should be organized more often. She stated that the parents of those children suggested that visits be made more often than once a week because they are very important to children," says the Association of Parents in a statement.
It is indicated that interactive services are organized at preschool institutions and are intended for children who live in remote rural areas, where there is no educational institution.
Through interactive services, early and preschool education and education services are provided to families with children up to 6 years of age.
From the Association of Parents, they said that the Vice President of the Municipality, Ivan Ašanin, attended the event, but did not address what the municipality recognizes as crucial in terms of supporting families.
Even in a conversation with representatives of the Parents association, Ašanin could not say what all types of family support exist, explaining that he is in charge of investments and does not know enough about that area.
It is reported that in Kolašin, the Vice President of the Municipality, Vasilije Ivanović, said that the family, as a pillar of society, is extremely important for the local government and that it will be additionally dedicated to it, both by supporting parents and organizing content for children.
Recently, two pediatricians have been working in that municipality, and parents say they have a psychologist and a speech therapist at their disposal.
"They pointed out that it would be good to increase the spatial capacity of the "Sister Radović" JPU so that the existing groups would be smaller, because they know that there are over 40 enrolled children. They would like their children to have at their disposal entertainment and educational facilities that they currently lack, because occasional, short-term events are mostly organized," the announcement states.
Dr. Popović Samaradžić, in direct contact with the parents, shared with them information that was unknown to them regarding vaccination.
Hygiene specialist Dr. Zorica Đorđević advised them how to schedule meals so that the children get better nutrition, especially when they go to school and avoid breakfast.
The family caravan is part of a project implemented by the association Parents in cooperation with UNICEF, with the financial support of the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro.
The goal of the caravan is to involve and empower local communities to provide the conditions necessary for optimal growth and development of children.
During the caravan, several different thematic activities are planned that will contribute to better informing parents about important topics related to the growth and development of children, such as breastfeeding, nutrition, vaccination, physical activity, the importance of contact, games and limiting the use of technological means that are not intended to children.
The family caravan goes on the road every Saturday, and the plan is to visit two cities by November 25 and to organize a mini family event during the visit.
During the two-hour program, animation points and creative-educational workshops for children are held, and the caravan team introduces parents to the key views of the profession regarding the growth and development of children.
