In recent days, herds of wild pigs have once again caused enormous damage to the fields with potatoes and corn, as well as to the meadows in Morača, according to the residents of the villages of Bare, Đudđevina, Osreci, Ljuta...
Some farmers fenced their fields with rows of wire, the so-called "shepherd fences", but some fields were not protected from boars even by a rebar fence and "anchored" posts.
In this way, Tihomir Jovanović tried to save the field, however, 15 wild pigs destroyed all the plantations in just one night.
Miljan Rnković, a farmer from Osredak in Donja Morača, says that he still somehow manages to defend his fields, with the help of "shepherds". However, he is not sure that this will stop wild pigs in the future.
"I have potatoes, corn, over three thousand heads of cabbage... I have taken all the protection measures, but when a herd of wild pigs comes, there is no defense. Jovanović fenced the field with "six" reinforcement, the pillars were "anchored" and nothing helped. "Wild pigs have multiplied so much that they have become like domestic animals in Donja Morača," says Rnković.
He recalls that, a few years ago, he invested a lot in the production of early potatoes, but the entire crop was destroyed by herds of wild pigs. According to Rnković, there was also a committee of the line ministry, representatives of the hunting society, and a record was drawn up, but no compensation for damages. Rnković tells the authorities that it is necessary to make changes to regulations related to hunting grounds.
"The legislator must say whether populated areas, fields and orchards should be hunting grounds. "Isn't it more logical that the area for hunting should be in less populated places, where there is no arable land", he asks.
The boars destroyed especially the corn plantations in Bari, and among them was the field of the president of that local community, Labuda Radović.
He claims that so far 1.200 square meters have been completely destroyed, and that "not a single stem has remained undamaged".
"We are powerless, the damage cannot be compensated, the law is simply on the side of wild boars and hunting societies. Even when the commission comes, everything ends on the record. For over 40 years I have been active on the family estate in Bara Morački. I don't remember a badger entering our fields, but that's why wild pigs are rampaging last year and this year. The fields don't look like the fields in fertile Donja Morača," says Radović.
The hunting society that manages the area has repeatedly claimed that they are not responsible for the damage caused by wild pigs. The president of LD "Manastir Morača" Petar Medenica, in October last year, responding to the accusations of the locals, said that their claims were "activated by the pre-election campaign".
"This problem is not only theirs, but it exists everywhere where there are serious hunting grounds. Slovenia and all other neighboring countries have this problem. Questions about whether I will compensate for the damage are ridiculous, because they do not concern me. You should know that by law I have to establish a ban on one third of the hunting grounds. I did not prescribe it, it applies to every hunting ground in Montenegro. Game is state property, not LD property. Locals should adequately fence and protect their properties," Medenica told "Vijesta" at the time.
According to the regulations, locals send claims related to damage caused by game to the hunting society that manages the hunting grounds, the Hunting Association and the Ministry of Agriculture. According to Article 77 of the Game and Hunting Act, the user of the hunting ground (LD) is responsible for the damage caused by the game.
However, based on the Rulebook on measures to prevent damage and the method and procedure for obtaining damage from wild game, landowners are obliged, among other things, to fence their sown areas and haystacks with a wooden or wire fence "in a way that prevents the passage of any hairy game." ".
