The Municipality of Žabljak and local businesses and the economy will help the graduates of the Mixed High School "17. September" from that city.
"Students of the school will go on an excursion to Greece at the end of September or at the beginning of October", the director of that educational institution confirmed to "Vijesta" Milojka Stijepović.
She said that 21 high school graduates, 11 from the High School and 10 students from the Hospitality School, will go on the excursion this year.
The Municipality of Žabljak will pay one hundred euros for each student, it was announced on the Facebook page of the Žabljak Municipality Assembly. That is a third of about 330 euros, which will be the cost of a trip to Greece per student.
"The municipality will pay the amount of 100 euros for each student, which will certainly be a help and relief for the household budgets of students and their parents. Excursions are a useful thing that helps students to socialize and have a good time and gain some nice experiences and acquaintances. Students and their parents are very important to us, especially young people who should always be supported and enabled to have good memories that will remain with them for the rest of their lives", announced the local self-government.
The director of the school said that some municipal companies and institutions, as well as local businessmen, gave their donations and helped the students and their parents to go on an excursion.
"We sent letters to the hosts and restaurateurs to help us with the children going on the excursion by donating money or having some jobs that the students can do and thus earn money to go on the excursion," Stijepović said.
Only 74 students from the first to fourth grade attend the secondary school in Žabljak.
Since it started working, 47 years ago, the Mixed High School "17. September" in Žabljak, enrolled the smallest number of students this year.
Only 12 students enrolled in the Gymnasium and Catering School, and the reasons are the decreasing birth rate and emigration to other cities.
"I think that next year the number of students will be higher, and lately more and more young people have been returning to the city, and it is to be expected that there will be more children in Žabljak in the coming period," said Stijepović.
The municipality of Žabljak pays 500 euros for each newborn child, and this year they provided free kindergarten for all children.
95 children were enrolled in the kindergarten in Žabljak this year.
