The regional water supply announced that two of the four new wells were damaged last night and that damage of around 6.000 euros was caused.
They suspect that the temporary dam on the Morača river "was disturbed by destructive forces that are frantically defending the interests of illegal exploiters". They also state that they informed the competent authorities about everything.
"During regular visits to the piezometer wells that were established on the right bank of Morača, in Grbavci, with the aim of monitoring the impact of the temporary dam (constitution) on the increase in the level of underground water and the recharge of the karst released in the source area of 'Bolje Sestre', damage was recorded to two out of a total of four new wells. Namely, unknown perpetrators tried to break the protective cover on PB U 1.1, but failed, while on the other one, PB U 1. 2, they succeeded in that intention. One part of the protective cover was broken, while the entire length of the 12 meters, filled with stones. In this way, it is impossible to monitor the impact of the dam on the establishment of the hydraulic connection, and therefore, this scientific experiment is called into question," the Regional Water Authority said in a statement.
They explained that the temporary dam on Morača is the result of scientific research and that the results were positive even before the rainfall itself, which, as they point out, "most likely disturbed the destructive forces that frantically defend the interests of illegal exploiters".
"Despite various obstacles during the research, the same proved the connection and assumptions from the study carried out by a multidisciplinary team from abroad for the needs of the Regional Waterworks and the development of the project of sanitary zones for the protection of the source of the 'Bolje Sestre'. The property of the Regional Waterworks is state property and we are all obliged to protect it that property. For a long period of time, we encounter various obstructions in our work, which is also known to the general public. The equipment and property of the Regional Waterworks is the target of vandals for the fourth time, so we appeal to the citizens to protect the common property, because it is more expedient to the funds are spent on purchasing instruments for further research, instead of allocating them to the renewal of existing ones".
The Regional Waterworks announced that in the past few days and during the construction of the embankment, their employees as well as experts engaged in the project were monitored and filmed on several occasions while they were doing their work.
"Such actions should not take place even in a regular legal framework, and not in a case where we have a declared national interest. After a series of obstructions that the Regional Waterworks faces in its work, the rejection of the commission formed by the Water Administration, which does not accept the Main project on the determination and maintenance of sanitary protection zones and zones for the source of 'Bolje Sestre', which calls into question the further functioning of the Regional Waterworks. The commission, which has three members who claim that the exploitation of gravel has no effect on the yield of the source of 'Bolje Sestre' "routinely used the opportunity provided, so the request of the Regional Waterworks to obtain a Decision on sanitary protection zones, i.e. for the expansion of II and the establishment of III sanitary protection zone, was "judged" in advance without a trial," it was announced.
They add that vandalism of destruction of state property "has been going on for a long time" and that none of the cases reported so far have been solved.
"It is necessary to bring the perpetrators of this and other acts of vandalism to justice and sanction them in accordance with the law. We appeal to the competent authorities to respond, that is, to ensure that the perpetrators of such acts do not go unpunished. In the Regional Waterworks, we have zero tolerance for such events. We want to we believe that everyone, in accordance with their competences, will activate the procedures to resolve this case as well as other cases," the statement concludes.
