Capital city: The fire at the Landfill was set, we invite citizens to report any suspicious activity

The fire in the grounds of the "Livade" landfill was started by an unknown person, the Information Service of the Capital City announced.

"Last night at 19:12 p.m., a fire was started by an unknown person in the vicinity of the "Livade" landfill, which is why throughout the night the teams of the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City, as well as our selfless colleagues from the Danilovgrad Service, worked to localize it." they said from that service.

As they stated, more than 35 cisterns of water were used and the fire was temporarily brought under control, however, they added, it is certain that the consequences will be felt in the coming days, through the emission of smoke and environmental pollution.

"A criminal complaint will be filed against the unknown person who started the fire as soon as possible, and all video material and other evidence will be submitted to the Police Directorate (UP) and the Prosecutor's Office for further action," they said.

They called on all citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity around the "Landfill" to the competent authorities, because, as they say, any arson in the said area is "extremely problematic, both from the aspect of extinguishing it, and from the aspect of the health of the population".

"It is sad that our city continues to face the consequences of this kind of action by irresponsible individuals, whether they are instructed or whether it is a personal act, because the consequences of such actions are suffered by all citizens of Podgorica and neighboring municipalities, as well as the environment of Montenegro Our teams, with the help of valuable colleagues from neighboring municipalities, will continue the rehabilitation of the mentioned area in the coming days, with the hope that this will be the last unpleasant scene of this type, and that the competent authorities will shed light on all the facts of last night's event as soon as possible and prosecute the responsible persons. Let the health of our fellow citizens, especially the youngest ones who are equally affected by this or similar criminal activities, be everyone's first priority," the press release of the Capital City Information Service reads.
