The fire at the landfill on Ćemovsko polje, which was set on Thursday evening, has been contained, announced the deputy mayor of Podgorica, Danilo Saranović.
On Thursday at 19:12 and XNUMX:XNUMX, an unknown person started a fire in the grounds of the Livade landfill.

Šaranović said that all available city crews and machinery that can respond to such a complex task have been at the scene of the fire since last night.
"We had significant help from colleagues from the Danilovgrad Protection and Rescue Service. Since this morning, members of the air-helicopter unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been with us," Saranović said.
As he said, the fire was extinguished by both a helicopter and an airplane for hours.
"We worked hard for almost 24 hours to localize the fire, we succeeded," Saranović said.
As he said, the fire is at a landfill where bulky waste is disposed of, the structure of which is very ungrateful for quick extinguishing.
Šaranović stated that the person they saw on the footage from the surveillance cameras "definitely knew what he was doing".
"She knew how to start a fire within a minute that took so many hours to be localized and brought under control," Saranović added.
He warned that the citizens of Podgorica, as well as the surrounding municipalities, will unfortunately feel the pain for days, given the structure of the waste.
"We are disappointed that this is happening, that individuals or groups can do this and cause harm to public health," Saranović said.
He said that he will file criminal charges against unknown persons as soon as possible for causing general danger and called on the competent authorities to shed light on the case and sanction the responsible persons.
