In the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), the hearings of witnesses and suspects in the case against the president and members of the RTCG Council began due to the suspicion that they refused to execute a final court verdict and enabled the acquisition of illegal benefits for general director Boris Raonić.
Prosecutor Vukas Radonjić today, as a witness, examined the Deputy President of the Council, Marijana Camović Veličković, who opposed the re-appointment of Raonic at the disputed session in June of this year and left the hall before the vote. Council member Milica Špajak is also a witness in SDT today.
Camović Veličković said today after the hearing that she told the prosecutor everything that happened before and the media.
"That Raonic attended the consultative meeting the day before the session of the Council held on June 1, although he was not the general director at the time, which we were told at the session itself. Therefore, he attended the consultative meeting of the Council without authorization, and a day later, as an unauthorized person, he stayed at the former workplace position, completely convinced of the fact that contrary to the final court verdict, he will be elected to the position of general director," she told the media.
Camović Veličković said that part of the witnesses and suspects were questioned, three months after the SDT formed the case.
"I hope that the prosecutor's office will soon come out with information that there are grounds for criminal liability against the people who re-elected Boris Raonic as general director in such a way," she said.
In July, the SDT opened an investigation against public officials - RTCG Council President Veselin Drljević and members Filip Lazović, Naod Zorić, Predrag Miranović and Amina Murić on the suspicion that they refused to execute a final and enforceable court verdict and enabled the elected General Director of RTCG Boris to obtain illegal benefits. Raonic.
On May 10, the High Court in Podgorica confirmed the verdict of the Basic Court that the General Director of Radio and Television of Montenegro Boris Raonic was in a conflict of interest when he was elected to that position in August 2021 because he had already been appointed by the Assembly to another public position - member of the council of the Electronic Media Agency.
The court made a legally binding decision, and according to the claim of the candidate Nikola Marković, that according to the Law on the National Public Broadcaster, the fact that Raonic is already holding a public office was a nuisance, so the legal consequence is - the annulment of the decision on the election of Raonic, a re-election among the registered candidates or the cancellation of the competition.
The candidates for RTCG general director in 2021 were, apart from Raonic, Nikola Marković, Milutin Stijepović and Srđan Čović.
With the votes of four out of five members of the RTCG Council, Raonic was reappointed as general director. Council member Marijana Camović Veličković left the session before the vote, claiming that she did not want to participate in another illegal election.
Council member Milica Špajak pointed out at the beginning of the session that she will not vote if the Council accepts the proposal to decide on candidates based on the 2021 competition.
Before the beginning of the session, Bojan Baća submitted his resignation from membership in the RTCG Council.
Špajak said that she will refrain from making statements to the media until the end of the proceedings.
The representative of the suspects, lawyer Danilo Mićović, assessed that the statements of the witnesses heard today, especially Camović Veličković, confirm in the best way the fact that his defense attorneys did not commit criminal acts and that they acted in accordance with the recommendation of the High Court.
