The people of Tiv are banishing scooters from pedestrian zones

The local administration of Tivat is working on measures that should soon, at least partially, curb the drivers of electric scooters who create a problem primarily for pedestrians, but also for other road users.

The owners of these silent and rather fast two-wheelers drive them literally everywhere in Tivat: from the city waterfront and the Pina promenade, through Porto Montenegro, through all the city streets, even to the Jadranska magistrala, where tricycles are often driven, and on an extremely risky section for them next to the Tivat airport where all other vehicles move at speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

And while the prevention of unscrupulous and reckless drivers of electric scooters from endangering their safety by moving on the highway, as well as the remaining free of other traffic participants who are threatened with imprisonment if they knock down and injure the scooterists, is within the jurisdiction of the Police Administration, which clearly does not care about it either. can overcome, scooters on city streets and promenades are the concern of the Municipality and its Municipal Police.

The Secretariat for Traffic and Housing and Communal Activities of the Municipality of Tivat is already working on amendments to the currently valid Decision on regulating traffic on the territory of the municipality. In that Secretariat, they consider justified the initiatives that were heard from certain councilors in the local parliament, about the need to introduce in that Decision provisions related to the ban on the movement of electric scooters and bicycles along pedestrian zones in the city.

"As the main project of technical regulation of traffic in the territory of the municipality of Tivat is under construction, and as the regulation of traffic in the territory of the municipality of Tivat will potentially be changed, this will result in the obligation to amend the Decision on regulation of traffic in the territory of the municipality of Tivat. During the amendment on this basis, the decision will be supplemented in such a way as to prescribe a ban on the movement of electric scooters and bicycles along recognized pedestrian zones on the territory of the municipality of Tivat, which are prescribed in Article 15 of the Decision on regulating traffic on the territory of the Municipality of Tivat, which was adopted in 2016 and amended 2018 and 2021," the Secretariat announced.

Back in 2019, the local administration of Tivat introduced a ban on riding bicycles and electric scooters in Ulica Maršala Tivat (Pine Promenade), the city waterfront of Pine and on the Promenade of Captain Ivo Visin from 19 p.m. to 23 p.m., but it is widely violated because the communal police officers have their hands full. most often bound to punish drivers of electric scooters because the Road Traffic Act does not recognize this type of vehicle as equal participants in traffic. The ban on driving bicycles and scooters on the main promenade through that tourist resort and settlement was also introduced by Porto Montenegro, but it is also violated there, even though the marina security regularly warns those who "sneeze" here on bicycles and electric scooters between the numerous walkers and tourists. who visit the elite Tivat nautical center.
