The viper, a poisonous snake, was filmed today in the National Park (NP) "Biogradska gora". The warm weather keeps this type of reptile still active at altitudes above 1.000 meters above sea level.
The video was recorded by Mićo Baltić, a member of the "Biogradska gora" National Park Protection Service.
The viper is generally between 60-70 centimeters in length, it can reach up to a meter, but such specimens are rare.
Females are larger than males. Male vipers are generally light gray to ashy with a clearly defined dark zigzag pattern along the body, while the coloration of females is generally brownish brown to orange with a dark brown and not so contrastingly colored pattern along the body. There is also variation in coloration and patterns in different subspecies, as well as in populations of the same subspecies.
