The former director of the Police Administration, Veselin Veljović, was taken from the Investigation Prison in Spuz and detained for treatment at the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG) in Podgorica.
This was confirmed to Vijesti from the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions (UIKS).
According to unofficial information from Vijesti, Veljović is constantly being observed in the prison health service, and recently he refused certain specialist examinations - imaging.
"Today he was taken to the Clinical Center and, on the recommendation of the doctor there, kept for observation," said the UIKS.
Veljović was arrested on July 24 in Žabljak.
On the order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), he was handcuffed by members of the Special Police Department (SPO).
The prosecution accuses him of using confidential information to help the head of a criminal organization, Aleksandar Mrkić, to smuggle cigarettes. Allegedly, in the transcripts from Skaj, the prosecutors read that Veljović informed Mrkić that the police would search the premises of Mujo Nikočević, thereby benefiting him in his illegal business - cigarette smuggling.
He is suspected of two crimes - membership in a criminal organization and abuse of official position.
The former first police officer denied the accusations, explaining to the special prosecutor that he was investigating Mrkić and his affairs, not helping him.
