Continuous support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to Montenegro in the development of the country's national capacities to achieve the goals of sustainable development and speed up the process of European integration is of great importance, said the President of the country, Jakov Milatović.
He received the permanent representative of UNDP in Montenegro, Ekaterina Paniklova.
Milatović said that he is convinced that the excellent cooperation with UNDP will continue in the future.
According to him, the continuous support of UNDP to Montenegro in the development of the country's national capacities to achieve the goals of sustainable development and the acceleration of the European integration process is of great importance.
"I strongly encourage continued cooperation and work on projects that improve Montenegro in numerous areas every day," said Milatović.
As announced by the President's Information Service, Milatović and Paniklova discussed the continuation of the implementation of the E-Social project, which is known as the social card, increasing the efficiency of Centers for Social Work, strengthening the capacity of local self-governments, projects related to persons with disabilities, but also the potential for cooperation in the field of ecology.
Milatović stressed the importance of establishing the UN Fund for Accelerated Development of Montenegro, assessing that it is a serious and important project that will significantly contribute to the economic progress of the country.
It is stated that in the light of the upcoming departure of the delegation led by Milatović to the UN Climate Change Conference, the UNDP project "Road Map of the Just Transition for Montenegro" was mentioned, which is focused on the municipality of Pljevlja, with the aim of supporting a gradual transition to the green economy and sustainable energy sources.
Milatović expressed his full commitment to the improvement of structural transformation, with a focus on green, inclusive and digital transition.
He thanked for the commitment and involvement of UNDP in opening topics of the greatest importance for the development of the country.
Paniklova pointed out that the European integration of Montenegro is a process that is compatible with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
"This is the vision of the future direction of Montenegro that UNDP supports, and I believe that the institution of the President of Montenegro will be our significant partner in the coming period in the implementation of initiatives aimed at digitization of public administration, social protection, inclusive green growth and progress towards achieving gender equality." , Paniklova stated.
She said that the results so far and numerous successfully implemented projects are a reason for satisfaction, but also an obligation to jointly strengthen the resilience of institutions and internal capacities.
"Human capital is the most important resource and great wealth of Montenegro and I look forward to continued successful cooperation with all national partners," said Paniklova.
The UNDP office in Montenegro was established in 2007 and since then has provided 111 million USD of program funds for Montenegro.
