The distribution of textbook sets for primary and secondary school in bookstores of the Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids of Montenegro will begin today, and they can be expected to go on sale around August 28, the Ministry of Education announced.
It is stated that textbooks are provided for children without parental care, children whose parents or guardians are beneficiaries of the right to material security, children with special educational needs and those placed in social and child protection institutions and family accommodation.
The Ministry of Human and Minority Rights provided textbooks for students of the Roma and Egyptian population who attend the first three grades, while the Ministry of Education will provide textbooks for part of the population of the other grades.
The Ministry said that the Institute for Textbooks signed contracts with interested trade union organizations, which enabled their members to purchase in installments.
"In the Institute's retail stores, it is possible to buy in installments using cards that allow this. The Institute also launched a campaign from August 15, in which for every purchased kit, you will receive two notebooks with recognizable Montenegrin motifs and athletes," the announcement reads.
As stated, a significant number of city administrations, in their desire to meet the educational needs of the students in their municipality, obtained sets of textbooks for part of the students free of charge.
According to the knowledge of educational institutions, textbooks for the first grade are procured by the municipalities of Podgorica, Herceg Novi, Tivat, Bar, Mojkovac, Kotor, Nikšić, Danilovgrad, Cetinje and Bijelo Polje, and for students from the first to the ninth grade by Budva and Berane.
The new textbooks, which the students will use this year, are physics for the 7th, 8th and 9th grade of elementary school, English for all grades of high school, mathematics for the first and second grade of high school and biology for the second grade of high school.
The Ministry will grant 3.400 loans
The Ministry of Education will award 3.400 loans to students of basic and specialist academic and applied studies at institutions of higher education.
Applications are submitted from September 4 to October 20.
770 first-year undergraduate students and 2.290 senior students studying in Montenegro will receive loans.
Montenegrin citizens studying outside of Montenegro will be granted 90 credits for first-year undergraduate students and 250 credits for senior students.
Students of basic and specialist academic and applied studies of higher education institutions who have enrolled for the first semester of the corresponding year of study and have not changed their study program have the right to a loan.
During the selection of candidates, priority is given to those who have better results in the previous year of schooling.
The loan is approved for one study year and is paid in ten monthly installments.
