After two serious and serious attacks on police officers in a short period of time that were not prosecuted in an adequate way, we experience that, for the umpteenth time, those who are elected to dispense justice are in fact dispensing injustice by hiding behind judicial or prosecutorial functions. This time and the most drastic so far.
This was announced by the Independent Police Union of Montenegro on the occasion of the annulment of the first-instance verdict for the murder of that police officer Milutin Leković, by which Albanian citizens Ljuan Hasanaj, his brother Ljuljzim and mother Nura were sentenced to single long-term prison sentences of 40 years each.
The Trade Union claims that the judges of the Appellate Court, by canceling the verdict, killed Leković again and became accomplices in this heinous crime.
"Ethics, morals and logic are obviously words that they did not come across in law books while they were studying. Unfortunately, they obviously did not have a sense of justice, empathy, protection of the victim instilled in their character. Cruel, heartless and insensitive making of such a decision is irreparably negative affects everyone in this society, especially the Leković family. Did the judges of the Court of Appeal wonder what and how much pain they are causing the Leković family with such a decision? Surely not, because if they had, the decision would have been different. Did the judges of the Court of Appeal ask themselves what are they telling Montenegrin society and Montenegrin citizens with this decision? The message is very clear to us and it reads: "Anyone can attack or kill you, don't count on the justice and protection of the Appellate Court", the announcement reads.
They point out that the story, effort and work of brave officers in the fight against crime is in vain when every thug, drug dealer and murderer can have a trial in the Montenegrin judiciary and prosecutor's office.
"All our evidence is in vain as long as the judges judge according to the "free judge's conviction" ignoring what they see with their eyes and hear with their ears. And at the same time they are protected "like white bears" and no one calls them to account. Not even for a traffic violation because is their first sentence: "I'm a judge", according to the Independent Trade Union.
They add that the policemen have to say goodbye to their families every time they go to work, because they may see them for the last time, and that with this protection of the state on their backs next to "Police" they only need the inscription "Kill on sight" because, they say, they are completely disenfranchised. unprotected and left at the mercy of criminals of all kinds.
"Police officers are calling for things to change urgently. Otherwise, someone here is ripe for serious psychiatric observation. Or those who, hiding behind the post and considering themselves untouchable, destroy their own community by making unreasonable, illegal and shameless decisions that help criminals and criminals or we who, masochistically, calmly watch all this, suffer and allow it to be inflicted on Montenegrin citizens. Many of the former are ripe for prison and the state must find the strength to deal with them. There must not be protected persons in our society and untouchable, even if they were judges and prosecutors," said the Independent Police Union.
They sent a request to the Government of Montenegro and the competent ministers to seriously deal with judges and prosecutors who "play" on the thin line of justice and injustice, honesty and crime, "and who, with their (in)work, set back both the safety of police officers and of the entire Montenegrin society".
"Because if a uniformed, armed and trained officer can, without fear of sanctions, be recklessly attacked on the street, hit by a car or even killed, then what can an ordinary citizen expect? We use the opportunity to thank the honorable, honest and professional judges and prosecutors who they perform their duty in an extremely appropriate and high-quality manner, and in which we place our hopes for the healing of their professions. We all have a great responsibility together and must be up to the task of protecting this society," the announcement concludes.
