The Directorate for Inspection Affairs (UIP) initiated the procedure to determine the responsibility of forestry inspector Dragan Marinović, due to the homophobic message he exchanged with his colleagues from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management a few days ago.

"We heard about the same situation for the first time from you when we received questions, after which the procedure was immediately initiated and adequate measures will be taken after establishing the factual situation. We will inform you and the public about this when the procedure is completed", they told "Vijesta" from the UIP headed by Ana Vujošević.

In the disputed correspondence, Marinović made an inappropriate comment about the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the organization Animal Survival International (ASI), and called them "fags".

The controversial correspondence took place after the President of ASI David Barit asked the Directorate for Forestry to solve the problem of two brown bear individuals, which are located on the property of Miljan Miličković, in the village of Blizna, not far from Podgorica.

The department of Vladimir Joković previously told "Vijesti" that Marinović's comment was "incorrect", but also that the Ministry does not have the authority to take any action in this specific case.

Two days ago, five LGBTIQ organizations filed a complaint against Marinović to the director of the UIP for violating the Code of Ethics for civil servants and state employees.

In the complaint signed by the Association "Spektra", "Kvir Montenegro", "Juventas", the Association of LBTQ Women "Stana" and ERA - Alliance for Equal Rights of LGBTI Persons in the Western Balkans and Turkey, among other things, they state that Marinović violated the code and homophobic caused damage to the UIP with the statement. They also reminded that based on the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination, the UIP is in charge of inspection supervision over the implementation of that law in various areas of discrimination.

Organizations initiated and offered free trainings for UIP employees in relation to the human rights of LGBTIQ persons.
