IOC: The UK continues to support the reform processes of the defense system of Montenegro

The United Kingdom continues to support the reform processes of the defense system of Montenegro, it was announced at the meeting between the Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović and the British Ambassador to Montenegro Dawn McCann.

Krapović, as announced by the Ministry of Defense, pointed out that the meeting with McCann is an indicator of the strategic alliance of the two countries and the continuation of continuous cooperation, as well as mutual respect between Montenegro and the United Kingdom.

He said that he greatly appreciates the long-term support that the United Kingdom provides in terms of implementing reform processes in the defense system of Montenegro.

This, as stated by Krapović, is support in the form of transferring the experiences of the British side in all segments that are important for reaching the necessary standards in the field of defense.

"He especially emphasized the importance of long-term education and training of Montenegrin staff at prestigious military and defense institutions in the United Kingdom," the announcement says.

It is stated that Krapović informed McCann about the planned priorities in the field of defense during his mandate.

"He emphasized that Montenegro will continue compliance with the foreign and security policy of the European Union, as well as that it will remain committed to membership in NATO and fulfilling priorities from the NATO agenda," the Ministry of Defense stated.

Krapović said that he expects intensive bilateral relations to continue, stressing that during his mandate he will advocate for the intensification of activities in the field of defense and military cooperation.

McCann said that she was satisfied with the achieved level of defense cooperation between the two countries and indicated her readiness to support the defense system of Montenegro.

"She also expressed satisfaction with regard to Montenegro's commitment and contribution to the collective security system and pointed out that the United Kingdom will continue to support Montenegro in areas of importance for the improvement of the defense system," the statement said.

It is added that the appointment of the United Kingdom defense envoy on a resident basis, in Podgorica, represents a strong message of the United Kingdom's commitment to cooperation with Montenegro, which will itself be intensified.
