The report of the European Commission (EC) on the enlargement showed that the human rights of LGBTIQ persons were not in the focus of the EU's attention this year either, because the document contains partly adequate assessments, but also more shortcomings, assessments and information that do not correspond to the situation on the ground.
This is what Danijel Kalezić, the executive co-director of ERA - the Alliance for Equal Rights of LGBTIQ Persons in the Western Balkans and Turkey, told "Vijesta".
According to him, the lack of focus on this topic has been evident for years and through a significant decrease in financial support for those organizations.
"The report does not mention the discrimination committed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) against the children of same-sex couples who were not granted Montenegrin citizenship, even though they meet all the requirements prescribed by law, which is why two lawsuits were filed against the state. In the part where it mentions the adoption of implementing regulations The Law on Medically Assisted Fertilization... it was not mentioned that the Ministry of Health acted in a discriminatory manner by adopting those regulations against same-sex oriented persons and women who are in a life partnership, who were denied access to these rights, which is why a group of non-governmental organizations filed a complaint with the Ombudsman," he emphasized. Kalezic.
He points out that "the fact that the direct death threats received by LGBTIQ activists are still unexplained and unprocessed, the criminal acts are unqualified" was not even mentioned.
Kalezić adds that "inaccurate information was provided about the amount of money allocated for the projects of LGBTIQ organizations".
"Of the stated amount, only a third was allocated to LGBTIQ organizations, while the rest was allocated to other organizations for projects with LGBTIQ themes..." he said.
