Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj met with the newly appointed permanent representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Montenegro, Ekaterina Paniklova, and on that occasion thanked UNDP for its support and constructive partnership on the path of digital transformation and public administration reform, strengthening the cyber ecosystem, as well as better provision of services for citizens and the economy.
The Ministry of Public Administration announced that Paniklova congratulated Dukaj on his new mandate, stressing her satisfaction with the continuation of cooperation in the implementation of projects that UNDP and that department had already started.
"Given the challenges we face and the evolving nature of cyber attacks, regional and international cooperation plays a key role in combating them. In the 44th agenda, the Government of Montenegro planned to work intensively on strengthening regional and international cooperation in the field of cyber security," said Dukaj.
The minister thanked Paniklova for her "immeasurable support" in the digitalization process of our country, in which UNDP is a key partner. Particularly important, Dukaj pointed out, is the strengthening of capacities for project planning in the field of digitization and cyber security, which UNDP will provide to the Ministry of Justice, which will significantly affect the use of funds from the Digital Europe program.
Paniklova pointed out that digital technologies "trigger a revolutionary change in our paradigms of thinking and working", revealing a range of possibilities that were once considered unattainable. As she said, this transformation requires a comprehensive management approach and strong and adaptable institutions ready for comprehensive reforms and optimization.
"In Montenegro, the preparation of the public administration for the adoption of this comprehensive approach is crucial, because it will enable the government to be ready to meet the expectations of citizens regarding the accessibility of services and effective communication. An integral part of this process is the strategic partnership between UNDP and the Ministry of Public Administration, which is aimed not only at accelerating the provision of efficient electronic services, but also at reducing the digital divide, improving human development and strengthening the ecosystem of public policies and innovations. The focus of our current and future initiatives is on the digital transformation of public administration. This joint effort of UNDP and the Ministry highlights the importance of partnership in achieving effective digital governance and improving public services, reflecting a comprehensive and proactive approach to governance transformation," said Paniklova.
As she added, this effort is of key importance in supporting Montenegro to achieve its national priorities, which are aligned with the Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030 and which result from the EU accession process.
