Today in Podgorica, a "Support Rally and Peace March for Palestine" was held, during which the Government of Montenegro was asked to impose sanctions on Israel.
Those gathered carried Palestinian flags and shouted "Free Palestine", and the procession started in front of the Government building and reached Independence Square.
The march passed through the narrow center of Podgorica, and the organizers and the gathered citizens on Independence Square had a very loud message - the suffering and tears of the innocent must stop.
The gathered asked to "stop the genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza", and they also called for a boycott of Israeli products and the products of Israeli companies and asked the Government of Montenegro to impose sanctions on Israel and condemn the "genocide against the Palestinians."
They condemned the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Filip Ivanovic, who recently spoke with the non-resident ambassador of Israel in Montenegro and said that Montenegro unequivocally supports Israel's right to self-defense, but that care must be taken to protect civilians.
Those gathered said that the one who does not condemn the genocide is actually an accomplice in it.
Maja Raičević from the Center for Women's Rights said that she will not remain silent on the suffering of the innocent.
"I am here today because I believe that every human life is valuable, because I do not believe that the road to peace leads through the corpses of 11.000 civilians in Gaza, of which 4.500 are children," Raičević said.
She also said that the suffering of innocents in Gaza represents the defeat of civilization.
"The suffering of the innocent will not and cannot lead to peace. Peace can only be achieved by striving for collective security and ending the domination of one over the other," said Raičević and called on all citizens in Montenegro to sign Amnesty International's petition for a cease-fire in Gaza and an end killing civilians.
Jovan Mandić from the Movement of Solidarity with Palestine said that the people of Montenegro do not consider Israel a friendly country.
"We condemn the statements of our state officials with emphasis on the statement of Minister Ivanovic because the people of Montenegro do not consider Israel a friendly country. We demand the withdrawal of their statements," Mandic said.
He also said that after the Holocaust in the Second World War, the world said that it must never happen again.
"And now we have a live broadcast on social networks of the new Holocaust, against the Palestinians. We must not allow fascism to win because if we remain silent in the face of such atrocities as are happening in Gaza, it is only a matter of time before we too will be victims of fascism again," Mandic said.
Civic activist Dževdet Pepić said "stop the crimes, stop the genocide against Palestinians, especially against children".
"You hypocritical world, why don't you raise your voice for every Palestinian child. Stop the crimes, stop the genocide against Palestinians, especially against children, and they are someone's children, are the children of Palestine worth less than Russian, Ukrainian, American, Spanish, our children?" Pepic said.
The meeting was organized by the Society of Montenegrin-Palestinian Friendship, the Movement of Solidarity with Palestine, students and SKOJ.
