The Department for Seismology of the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology today, at 10:21 a.m., registered an earthquake of medium strength with the epicenter in the area of Presjeke settlement in Nikšić.
As announced, the strength of the earthquake at the focal point was 3.8 units on the Richter scale, which corresponds to the epicentral intensity of degrees V-VI of the Mercalli scale (MCS). The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of nine kilometers.
"Based on the numerical model of the change in intensity with distance in this region, the magnitude of the earthquake and the depth of the hypocenter, this earthquake could have caused only minor material damage in the epicentral area," the statement said.
