Marijeta Mojašević from Montenegro, an activist for the rights of people with disabilities, was included in the list of 100 inspiring and influential women in the world for 2023, published by the BBC.
"Having survived two strokes while in high school, Marijeta Mojašević's life changed drastically. After experiencing the physical and psychological consequences, many of which she still lives with today, Mojašević now works as a youth counselor and human rights activist with a disability. She uses her voice to challenge attitudes and behavior towards people with neurological disorders. She has created 'Living with a Disability' workshops, where she draws on her own experiences to help fight prejudice. She is an ambassador for OneNeurology, an initiative that aims to make neurological conditions a global public health priority," the BBC reported.
The BBC's list includes, among others, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, Hollywood star America Ferrera, feminist icon Gloria Steinem, former US First Lady Michelle Obama, cosmetics company owner Huda Katan and Ballon d'Or-winning soccer player Aitana Bonmati.
"In a year when extreme heat, bushfires, floods and other natural disasters dominated the news, the list also included women who are helping their communities cope with climate change and taking steps to adapt to its consequences. We include BBC 100 Women 28 female climate pioneers, before the United Nations conference on climate change COP28," said the media.
