The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) announced that its representatives, Zoja Bojanić Lalović and Sonja Milatović, submitted to the Parliament the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Higher Education yesterday.
"The proposal was submitted in order to meet the request for the extension of the status of students under the old study system before the start of the application of the Bologna study system, which was sent to the members of the Parliament of Montenegro by the students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro," announced the Club of DPS deputies.
"Understanding the reasons stated in the request itself, we decided to contribute in this way to the solution of the unenviable situation in which the students found themselves, and put in the procedure a proposal to extend the deadline for completing studies under the old study system until the end academic year 2023/2024", they add.
They said that this proposal would make it possible for students who enrolled in studies under the old system to "complete the same, without, against their will, switching to the new model of education".
"We believe in the continuation of good parliamentary practice on this issue and support for the mentioned amendment of the law in the Montenegrin parliament in order to put the students, who submitted the initiative, on an equal footing with other students," the announcement concludes.
