The Health Center of the Capital City of Podgorica announced that on the occasion of December 1, the World Day against HIV/AIDS, it will organize anonymous night testing for HIV and AIDS.
As they stated, the testing will be carried out on December 1 from 17 to 24 hours in the premises of the Youth Counseling Center of the ZO Nova Varoš, 4th Proletarian Brigade, Podgorica.
"Raising the awareness of citizens by testing for HIV and AIDS leads to early detection of this infection. The basic prerequisite for a long and quality life with HIV is to detect the infection in time and to start treatment immediately", added DZ Podgorica.
They emphasize that all HIV testing is voluntary, confidential and free.
"Early diagnosis is important, because it allows people to start treatment for HIV infection earlier, which in turn increases their chances of a long and healthy life and prevents further transmission to other people. Scientific evidence points to the fact that 50 percent of HIV-infected people find out about their diagnosis late "The pandemic caused by HIV remains a major public health issue at the global level," the statement reads.
They conclude that with increasing access to effective prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of people infected with HIV, as well as opportunistic infections, HIV infection has become a chronic health condition that enables people living with HIV to lead long, productive and healthy lives.
