Digitization and modernization of teaching and reaffirmation of the position and reputation of the teaching profession are strategically important and neither process should be neglected, said State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, Dragan Bojović.
At the Digital Education for Human Rights conference, organized by the non-governmental organization Juventas, he said that it is a fact that children are already being informed, educated and acquiring knowledge in the digital world.
As announced by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, Bojović said that teaching should and must follow that process.
He stated that the Ministry insists on development projects in that direction.
As announced, one of them is the procurement of computer equipment for educational institutions in Montenegro in the amount of 6,3 million euros, which will provide 50 percent of the schools' needs.
"We will try to provide 100 percent of the needs of our schools as soon as possible. We have the "Digital School" resource, which enables online collaboration of all stakeholders in education, as well as the availability of a large number of digital content for independent online learning," emphasized Bojović.
He added that a SELFIE survey was conducted in schools in order to assess the digital maturity achieved by students.
Next school year, as Bojović said, the SELFIE survey for the teaching staff will begin, which will show where the shortcomings are, that is, how much teaching can be improved in this sense.
Bojović emphasized the importance of developing electronic services for all citizens, in order to facilitate enrollment, communication and interaction of all interested citizens with the education system.
"The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation will insist on the further modernization of teaching, because it is an aspect that is both inevitable and necessary, in order for teaching to follow technological development," the announcement says.
Bojović said that it should be borne in mind that technology is an auxiliary tool, not an end in itself, as demonstrated by the corona crisis.
"It is strategically important for us to digitize and modernize teaching, but also to reaffirm the position and reputation of the teaching profession. We must not neglect either process, but coordinate them in order to achieve the best results", he emphasized.
The conference was attended, among others, by the representative of the American Embassy Steven Drejkon, the director of Juventas Ivana Vujović, Goran Šuković from the CEO of the Logate Institute, the professor of CSBH and media literacy Svetlana Koprivica, as well as Nevena Čabrilo from the Institute for Education, who spoke about the digitalization process in educational system.
