The key priority of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property is to arrange the database of cadastral data, said the relevant minister, Janko Odović, during a meeting with the resident coordinator of the United Nations in Montenegro, Peter Lundberg.

He explained that this process will take place through two phases - determination of ownership and digitization of cadastral data.

Lundberg, as announced by the ministry, introduced Odović to the work of the United Nations system and its agencies and reminded him of the Framework of cooperation between the UN and Montenegro for sustainable development, which defined the foundations of the five-year cooperation (2023-2027) between our country and that international organizations. He expressed the hope that the Government will actively work on the implementation of the development goals provided for in that document.

The minister announced that the plan is to draft a new law on legalization, which will provide for the legalization of hitherto illegally built buildings, under certain conditions, after which, as he pointed out, it will no longer be possible to legalize anything built in such a way.

Odović also underlined the importance of educating the population, which will be given a special focus, in order to inform citizens as fully as possible about how to register construction and build in accordance with the law.

In order to overcome the housing problems of the most vulnerable categories of the population, the Minister informed Lundberg of the intention to, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, launch a "social program" which will provide for the construction of housing facilities for persons in a state of social need.
