Citizen initiative Zdrava Mojkovac addressed today to Prime Minister Milojko Spajić with a request to provide information regarding the termination of the concession contract for detailed geological research and the exploitation of sulphide polymetallic ore in the exploration and exploitation area of the former mine "Brskovo" near Mojkovac, from 10.12.2010. years.
As announced, the letters were delivered to the Minister of Energy and Mining Saša Mujović, the Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property Janko Odović and the Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North Vladimir Martinović.
In the letter, they add, "facts that indisputably indicate" that the concession contract expired on July 25 of this year, as well as "all other arguments related to the acquired conditions" for suspending the process of adopting the DPP for the area of the concession area for mineral exploitation raw material - Brskovo, Municipality of Mojkovac and Strategic Environmental Impact Assessments for DPP Brskovo, which are "absolutely unacceptable, which cannot undergo changes and additions without fulfilling the current regulations", and that the same "must be withdrawn, and the procedure for their adoption suspended".
"We expect you to absolutely disqualify the designation of seven million square meters in the zone between two national parks and the UNESCO-protected Tara River, for one of the dirtiest mining and processing activities with the consequence of permanent destruction of nature, pollution of all segments of the environment and endangering people's health with the consequence of getting sick from the most serious sickness and death. We hope that together we will build a better future in Mojkovac, respecting the determination of the absolute majority of the citizens of Mojkovac, which was formally confirmed by the statement of the absolute majority (none of those present at the vote voted 'against') of the councilors of the Municipal Council of Mojkovac, requesting the Government of Montenegro to verify the termination of the mentioned Agreement, the suspension of the adoption of the DPP for the area of the concession area for the exploitation of mineral raw materials Brskovo and by which the Government is informed that the SO Mojkovac is against all activities related to the field of mining in the territory of the municipality of Mojkovac", the letter states.
They said that they have high expectations from Spajić and Mujović, that they will "recognize and respect the interests" of the citizens and the state and that, "unlike the previous Government", they will make a decision and "commitment for the development of Mojkovac based on healthy and sustainable principles" as soon as possible. ", protecting the health of citizens, nature and natural resources.
