The European Commission (EC) supports Montenegro in the process of meeting the benchmarks and concretizing the process in the field of European integration, it was announced at the meeting of the representative of the EC, Dimitrios Zevgolis and the Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Vladimir Martinović.
Martinović, who heads the delegation of the Government of Montenegro at the 28th Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai, met with Zevgolis on the sidelines of the COP.
As announced by the Ministry, the focus of the meeting was on concretizing joint efforts and speeding up activities to close Chapter 27.
"The EC gives full support to Montenegro in the process of fulfilling the benchmarks and concretizing the process in the area of European integration," the announcement says.
It is stated that the EC offered financial and technical assistance in the form of exchange of experts, education and training, especially in the field of legislation.
Martinović emphasized that Montenegro is strongly committed to the EU integration process and that these issues are high on the agenda of the new Government and the Ministry headed by it, as well as that specific activities have already been initiated to that end.
"Taking into account the importance of the topics, it was agreed that a meeting of the minister with the competent commissioners in the European Commission will be organized in Brussels in the near future," said the Ministry.
Martinović met with the president of the Environment Committee of Greece, Dionysia Theodora Avgerinopoulou, who invited the minister to the Our Ocean Conference 2024, which will be held in April next year in Athens.
