The deadline for submitting applications for the award competition for the best in rural tourism for this year has been extended until Friday, the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North announced.
The government department reminded that they are implementing the campaign "Rural, sustainable, household!", where all registered rural households can apply.
They explained that the award competition is realized in the categories "Best Rural Household", "Best Rural Household in Katun", "Best Rural Housewife", "Best Young Rural Household" and "Best Young Rural Housewife".
The Ministry said that rural tourism is an important factor in the tourism development of Montenegro, as well as the development of global tourism in general.
"It is a driver of sustainable development and an instrument for the revitalization of rural areas. It is also a factor in improving the market orientation and competitiveness of rural areas in the demanding tourist market," said the Ministry.
As they stated, given that rural areas are faced with numerous challenges, primarily depopulation, their goal is to further encourage the development of rural tourism, which is one of the most important components of the development of tourism and integral and sustainable development of villages and rural areas.
The Ministry said that it is particularly important to support rural households and their housewives, as the carriers of this important tourist segment.
The Ministry has set 15 euros for the prize fund for this Competition, and the monetary prizes are from 500 to XNUMX euros.
"In the category "The best rural household", we choose rural households, which reflect the culture and historical heritage of the area, and which provide a variety of food, drinks and beverages, mostly from their own production, as well as other types of additional content and services," it says. in the announcement.
It was explained that in the category "The best rural household in Katun", rural households are selected, which are built in a traditional and authentic style and which reflect the culture and historical heritage of the area, in which a variety of food, drinks and beverages are provided, mostly from their own production, as well as other types of additional content and services.
"In the category "Best Country Housekeeper", we choose women/activists who improve the quality of services and offer for guests in the country house for their rest and recreation, prepare and serve hot and cold dishes and drinks, mostly from domestic production, taking into account the variety offers", the announcement states.
It is added that in the category "Best Young Country Housekeeper" and "Best Young Country Housekeeper" men or women carrying out activities under the age of 40 are awarded, who in the country house improve the quality of services and offer for guests for their rest and recreation, prepare and serve hot and cold dishes and drinks, mostly from domestic production, taking into account the diversity of the offer.
Winners of last year's awards do not have the right to participate in the award competition, and the deadline for submission of applications is until 13 pm on Friday.
