The rehabilitation of the protective winter embankments on Ada Bojana, which were damaged at the beginning of December in the storm that hit Ulcinj, has been completed.
The Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and the Development of the North announced that the rehabilitation, as well as the construction of the protective embankment, was carried out by the company Zaštita splota Crne Gore.
"For the third year in a row, the Ministry is implementing urgent measures to protect the beach and property of the HTP Ulcinj Riviera from intense erosion. The project of protective artificial dunes is the result of cooperation with Italian experts for beach erosion through the Rehabilitation of Ada Bojana project, financed from the IPA fund, which the Ministry is implementing already three years," the announcement reads.
It is added that the goal of the project is to learn about the dynamic coastal processes that lead to the erosion of Ada Bojana, with the aim of finding a solution for the long-term sustainable management of this extremely important area.
"Before the start of the summer tourist season, the protective dunes will be leveled in order to ensure unhindered access to the beach. We remind you that at the Government session in October, the Information on the current situation and the need to implement short-term measures for the construction of artificial embankments - dunes in order to prevent damage to the property of HTP Ulcinjska Riviera was adopted caused by erosion on Ada Bojana and providing conditions for the next tourist season," the announcement states.
