The Non-Governmental Associations (NGOs) "Impuls" from Nikšić and the Center for Support of Local and Regional Development from Herceg Novi will open counseling centers for foster parents and children in foster care in the aforementioned municipalities, as well as trained experts for working with foster families as part of the project they started to implement. .
It is about the project "Every child is important - support for foster families, children in foster families and families at risk in Nikšić and Herceg Novi" which will last until May 31, 2025.
"Through the project, a training program for foster families will be accredited, potential foster parents will be introduced to the conditions and concept of foster care, and counseling centers will be opened for foster parents and children in foster care in Nikšić and Herceg Novi," said project coordinator Violeta Mrkić.
The main activities of the project are the development of training programs for foster care, the training of experts who will conduct trainings with foster parents, a promotional campaign for foster care, as well as the provision of counseling services to foster parents and children in foster and biological families at risk. The target groups are 30 biological families at risk (20 in Nikšić, 10 in Herceg Novi), 15 foster families (10 in Nikšić and 5 in Herceg Novi), 22 children placed in foster families (15 in Nikšić and 7 in Herceg Novi). and 15 experts who will be qualified to train foster families.
"We invite all foster parents, as well as those who are interested in becoming one, to contact the aforementioned associations, so that they all contribute to the development of foster care and the improvement of the quality of life of children who are in foster care," urged Mrkić.
The project is implemented through the grant scheme "Support to employment, social inclusion and social entrepreneurship" within the project "Improved policy-making based on evidence, implementation of practices and coordination in the sectors of employment, education and social policy and strengthened capacities for participation in the European Social Fund", which coordinated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, and financed from EU pre-accession funds (IPA II).
The total value of the project is slightly over 126 thousand euros, of which the European Union finances almost 120 thousand.
