Locals of Đurđevića Tara will block the bridge in Đurđevića Tara for half an hour on Friday, January 5, in order to once again express their protest over the announced construction of a high-voltage transmission line through their village.
They informed the Security Department in Pljevlje about this, stating that they will block the road in the period from 11 to 11.30:XNUMX.
"At the assembly of residents of the village of Đurđevića Tara held on December 31.12.2023, 5.1.2024. it was decided not to allow the Montenegrin electric transmission system to continue destroying the environment in Đurđevića Tara. As a sign of warning to the Montenegrin electric transmission system, we decided to block the big bridge on Đurđevića Tara on January 11.00, 11.30. in the period from XNUMX:XNUMX a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX a.m. It was unanimously decided that the passage of ambulances and other state institutions will be allowed," states the notice submitted to the police today, signed by Đole Kljajević, president of the Kosanica local community, to which Đurđevića Tara also belongs.
The locals are asking for the relocation of the route because it would be impossible to live in Đurđevića Tara if the 400 kilovolt transmission line passes through the village, the most populated in the Pljeval municipality.
They also asked the president of the municipality of Pljevlja, Darija Vraneš, to use his powers and intervene with the competent institutions in order to solve this problem.
The Municipal Assembly of Pljevlja recently adopted the conclusions by which it asks the "Montenegro Electric Transmission System to immediately suspend the construction of the 400 kilovolt transmission line "Lastva-Čevo-Pljevlja in the part of the route that passes through the village of Đurđevića Tara.
In one of the conclusions, it is requested that "Montenegro Elektroprenosni sistema" immediately suspend the construction of that transmission line through other inhabited places in the area of the municipality of Pljevlja.
"If power line facilities have already been built or installed in populated areas in the territory of the municipality of Pljevlja, the Assembly will demand that they be removed or dismantled and relocated outside populated areas as soon as possible. The Municipal Assembly of Pljevlja will undertake all the measures provided for by law and the Constitution in order to protect the human and property rights of its citizens from the negative impact of the construction of this facility," the conclusions state. The Municipal Assembly of Pljevlja will submit these Conclusions to the President of Montenegro, the Prime Minister of Montenegro, relevant ministries and agencies as well as international organizations dealing with the protection of human rights and the environment.
The President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Dario Vraneš, who is also the proposer of the decision, said that no one has anything against the construction of the transmission line because it is in the interest of the state, but that the route is disputed.
"The state's intention is that the transmission line goes through the center of the village. We are only asking the government and the ministry to bypass the village. This is not the interest of two or five families, this is the interest of all the citizens of Pljevlja, and that is how we should behave. There is no life under the power lines. Today we are defending the dignity of the people of Pljevlja, our voice must be heard. Gentlemen from the Government, let the transmission line bypass the village. I would like to thank the residents of Đurđević Tara for remaining consistent and resisting various brokers who offered them money and blackmailed them, but they remained firm and did not give up their inheritance. I am sorry that no one is present from Elektroprivreda, other energy companies, the Environmental Protection Agency. We all have to be unique, there is no more oppression of Pljevlja. Here we must not bow down and show unity," said Vraneš.
Since 2015, "Montenegro Elektroprenosni System" (CGES) has been carrying out activities on the construction of the 400 kV transmission line "Lastva-Čevo-Pljevlja" in the area of the municipality of Pljevlja, on the stretch from the border with the municipality of Žabljak on the Tara River to the power plant in the immediate vicinity of the TPP. Sings.
"According to the existing route, this power line passes through several inhabited places in the area of the municipality of Pljevlja, directly endangering the villages of Đurđevića Tara and Gornji Komini. In addition to those mentioned, another number of households located in other inhabited places through which the power line route passes, as well as the monastery of St. Archangel Michael in Đurđevića Tara, which originates from the 13th century, are at risk. Since the Elaborate on the construction of this transmission line established that its construction endangered the total biodiversity in a diameter of 400 meters, the passage of this transmission line through the mentioned populated places would completely prevent the life of about four hundred inhabitants, both biologically and economically. In the village of Đurđevića Tara, which is one of the most densely populated and economically developed villages in the municipality of Pljevlja, life and economic activity would be completely impossible. It should be noted that the Tara Bridge is located in the village of Đurđevića Tara, one of the most visited tourist destinations in the region, and that the construction of a transmission line along the existing route would have a disastrous effect on rural tourism," the Conclusions explain.
They also point out that the passage of the transmission line through other areas of the municipality of Pljevlja "would have a catastrophic effect" on the entire flora and fauna, the quality of surface and underground water, which would all together greatly increase the otherwise enormous level of environmental pollution in the municipality of Pljevlja.
