The Vice President of the Assembly Zdenka Popović sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Mojkovac Municipality Day to the President of the Municipality Vesko Delic, the President of the Municipal Assembly Marko Janketić, as well as to the citizens of Mojkovac.
"Today, on the eve of Christmas, the most joyous Christian holiday, we pay tribute to the courage of our ancestors who welcomed Christmas in 1916 in the trenches, fighting for the freedom of Montenegro. We proudly remember the Battle of Mojkovac, where Montenegrin heroes resisted a more numerous enemy, becoming a key factor in the victory of the Entente powers in World War I. In respect for those who sacrificed their lives for the homeland, writing historical and military textbooks, we are obliged to preserve Montenegro as a sacred heritage. Infrastructure projects, such as the highway, promise prosperity to the northern part of the country, including Mojkovac. Through better connectivity, valorization of tourist potentials and support for young people, Mojkovac will truly, just like in 1916, be the gateway and pride of Europe," announced Popović.
She added that Mojkovac Municipality Day should be an opportunity to pay tribute to past generations, but also to work with love and dedication on the further development of Montenegro.
Bogdanović: We celebrate the courage of our ancestors
The head of the Democrats parliamentary group, Boris Bogdanović, said that "today we celebrate not only the happiest Christian holiday, but also the courage of our ancestors who left their lives on the battlefield on this day".
He sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Mojkovac Municipality Day to the President of the Municipality Vesko Delić, the President of the Municipal Assembly Marko Janketić, as well as to all citizens of Mojkovac.
"Today we celebrate not only the happiest Christian holiday, but also the courage of our ancestors who on this day left their lives on the battlefield. Rushing to freedom, in deep and bloody snow, Montenegrin fighters looked death, but also glory and honor in the eyes. A small number, with extremely small chances and many times worse weapons, won one of the most famous victories in the history of Montenegro and wrote its name in golden letters, but also paved the way for the victory of the Entente powers in the First World War," said Bogdanović.
He said that the "uncompromising fight for the freedom of Mojkovac and Montenegro from 1916" is the daily motivation to "build a Montenegro worthy of each of its citizens, but also worthy of the sacrifices made by those who did not kiss the chains".
"By increasing the minimum pension to 450 euros, numerous infrastructure projects, increased allocation from the budget for capital projects in the north of Montenegro, but also the additional development of industry, as well as better valorization of the tourist potential, Mojkovac will not be a municipality from which to leave, but one to which is coming back and staying. We have a difficult road ahead of us, but guided by the motive of our ancestors, we will not deviate from it, but remain fully committed to the development of this northern municipality and worthy heirs of the heroes from Mojkovac. In this name, I wish all the citizens of Mojkovac once again a happy Mojkovac Municipality Day", concluded Bogdanović.
