Apply for a two-month internship in the media in Montenegro

The Media Institute announced the "First Step to the Newsroom" Program, which is an opportunity for ten young journalists and students in their final years of journalism, media and social sciences to improve their basic journalistic skills through practical work under the mentorship of experienced professionals from established media. in training and a paid internship in the newsroom for two months, as well as the possibility of further engagement in the media where they did the internship.

Who is the program intended for?

• journalists with up to three years of experience, willing to improve their journalistic craft and skills with experienced professionals, journalists, editors, journalism trainers and newspaper photographers.
• students in their final years of studying journalism, media and social sciences.

What does the program consist of?

• four-day introductory training - preparation for a two-month, paid internship in established, partner media: daily newspapers Vijesti, Pobjeda, Television E, CIN Montenegro, Radio Montenegro.
• two-month, paid internship in partner media, with the mentorship of experienced professionals
• after a two-month internship, participants can get a job in the medium in which they did their internship
• in addition to basic training and internships, participants will have the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills with experienced journalists on an advanced, two-day investigative journalism course
• participants can compete in the competition for research stories, which they will work in pairs with experienced colleagues

Who are the lecturers?

• the lecturers are journalists with several decades of experience in domestic, regional and world media and licensed journalism instructors

When and where?

• The program will be held from February 06 to 09, 2024, in Podgorica, after which participants will be sent to media editorial offices for a two-month, paid internship.

Note: Attendance at the four-day training is mandatory and only participants who have completed the introductory training get the opportunity for a paid internship in the media. Accommodation and travel expenses are provided.
