Members and presidents of the board of directors of Kolašin companies Komunalno and Vodovod i Kanalizacija, as well as the Council of the Cultural Center, will receive significantly higher compensation in the future, compared to the past.
Amendments The decision on their compensation was voted by the councilors of the Municipal Assembly (SO), so the presidents of the board will from now on receive 250, instead of the previous 150, and the members 200, instead of 126.
As could be heard at the last session of the SO, some presidents conditioned the legislative power and threatened not to schedule meetings of the board of directors until their fees are increased. The proposals from their initiative sent to the Assembly were significantly more ambitious, so they asked for compensation of 320 euros for presidents and 270 euros for board members, which would be more than a double increase of that type of income.
Nevertheless, the councilors received a proposal to increase this type of compensation to 270 for presidents, or 250 for board and council members. Thanks to the amendment of the President of the Municipal Assembly Vasilija Bulatović, the proposal was modified, and the amount of fees was further reduced.
There are a total of 15 members in the boards of Directors of Water and Sewerage and Communal and in the Council of the center, including the presidents. There are nine from the Democrats, three from the Democratic Front (DF) and one each from the Socialist People's Party (SNP), the Europe Now Movement and the URA. According to the newly established fees, almost 38.000 euros will be allocated annually for the work of the board and council. Fees for the members of the Board of Directors of Communal and Water Supply and Sewerage are paid from the coffers of those companies, and the fees of the Council of the Center are paid from the municipal budget.
The increase in compensation for presidents and members of the board of directors came at a time when two companies announced that they were facing serious financial problems. Namely, salaries in the Municipal and Water Supply and Sewerage, by applying the Branch Collective Agreement (GKU), have increased by more than 50 percent compared to a year ago.
That fact apparently did not stop the presidents and board members from ultimately demanding an increase in their fees.
In the period from 2014 to 2018, the members of the board of directors of Komunal on their own initiative reduced their fees due to the unenviable financial situation of the company. At that time, while the president of the Municipality was Željka Vuksanović, unlike the practice that followed, representatives of opposition parties were also elected to the boards of directors.
The councilors of the local parliament have also recently increased their fees, so, not counting daily allowances, they will receive 270 euros per month, instead of the previous 126 euros.
