An unknown person or more of them destroyed two of the three signs marking the entrance to the "Rijeka Zeta" Nature Park, and the Agency for Management of Protected Areas (AUZP) in Podgorica told "Vijesti" that this was done in a planned and organized manner.
"The destruction of the info board was not the work of a destructive teenager. Someone had to do this deliberately, planned and organized. They had to get paint and spill it all over the board, which is about three meters high. I believe that this was done by someone who was revolted by the fact that the Nature Park" "Rijeka Zeta" exists at all", said executive director Jasna Gajević to "Vijesti".
On December 25 of last year, AUZP installed three tourist information boards at the entrances to the territory of the Park from the direction of Podgorica.
Gajević clarified that they first noticed that one of the signs was destroyed, when on January 4, members of the Protection Service of the National Security Service of Ukraine reached the sign on Mareza and saw that someone had spilled metal paint on it.
"They tried to wipe off the paint, but it was very difficult. The sign is about three meters high. The stairs they used broke. Fortunately, no one was hurt. That's why we asked our colleagues from 'Cistocë' to clean the sign. the work is done by only one worker who was currently absent, we waited for his return and the blackboard was finally as good as new on January 19.01. Two days later, on January 21.01, 'Oči Podgorica' published a photo showing the blackboard covered with paint again. The acquisition of the info board, according to Gajević, cost about 6.000 euros.
"We, as protected area managers, have a legal obligation to mark protected areas. Any destruction of signs requires their repair, cleaning or replacement with a new sign, which is a waste of taxpayers' money due to the whims and unscrupulous behavior of individuals. 'Cleanliness' has not yet paid us a bill for cleaning the blackboard for the first time, and it already needs to be cleaned again, plus the blackboard in Vranjski njiva," she said.
JCE did not report the destruction of the boards to the authorities.
"We did not report the damage, because we found ourselves taken aback by that unconscionable act of an individual, and knowing that reports by unknown persons hardly or never result in the discovery of the perpetrator," said Gajević.
The "Rijeka Zeta" nature park was declared in December 2019, when the then Government passed the Decision on the declaration. Apart from Podgorica, management is also entrusted to the Municipality of Danilovgrad.
